Französische Friedrichstadtkirche
(Stage)

The French Friedrichstadt Church is the oldest building on the Gendarmenmarkt. It was built between 1701 and 1705 as the church of the Huguenots, French Protestant refugees who had found asylum in Mark Brandenburg after 1685.
The church was completely destroyed during World War II. In 1977 reconstruction works began.
Since Easter, 1983, the church has been used in various ways. The Huguenot community with its 800 members, meanwhile German speaking, shares the building with the Evangelical Friedrichstadt community, the French-speaking Communauté protestante francophone de Berlin et environs and the Protestant Academy to Berlin.
