Berlin has an advantage for getting around like almost no other city: an integrated transport system of U-Bahn (underground), buses, trams, S-Bahn (light rail) and ferries, which you can use to get almost anywhere in the city, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
And even at night there are no limits on your movements, with numerous night buses and trains.

Due to urgent security checks the S-Bahn services are limited. However, as Berlin provides an extensive public transport network all touristic attractions continue to be reachable easily: Underground trains and trams, busses, as well regional trains are another reliable option.

There are three tariff zones in Berlin: Zone A is surrounded by the S-Bahn ring and covers the city centre. Zone B ends at the city limits of Berlin. Zone C encompasses nearby surrounding areas (e.g. Schönefeld Airport, Potsdam, Oranienburg).
Depending on your needs, you can obtain a combined ticket for the Zones Berlin AB, BC or ABC. The normal tariff is valid for adults, the reduced tariff for children from 6 up to and including 14 years old; children under 6 years old do not require a ticket. The best way to buy your tickets is at one of the many BVG and S-Bahn sales centres or from the machines at the station. The machines can be used easily around the clock and their services are available in 6 languages (German, English, French, Spanish, Turkish, Polish).

BVG and the S-Bahn Berlin not only ensure the mobility of Berliners and the city's visitors: they also guarantee a significant part of the quality of life in the city. Commuters, tourists from all over the world, young people going out in Berlin's "Szene" in the evening, senior citizens, passengers on excursions just looking for relaxation - all use the public transport, without which Berlin would be unthinkable.

The number 100 and 200 buses
Berlin's city centre is very extensive and cannot be fully explored by foot. It is worth experiencing certain stretches by public transport. The number 100 and 200 buses drive past many sights from Zoologischer Garten to Alexanderplatz, so that a journey on them is already like a sightseeing tour.

S-Bahn "Stadtbahn" You can also catch a first glimpse of many sights from the S-Bahn on its raised tracks. On the stretch between Zoologischer Garten and Alexanderplatz you will pass by the Tiergarten with the Siegessäule (Victory Column), Reichstag (parliament building) and government buildings and glide between the buildings on Museum Island.
